INTER-district Transfers
INTER-district transfers are transfers between DISTRICTS at the HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL. The request is initiated at the district of residence and must be renewed every year beginning January/February (for processing beginning February/March).
- Transfer INTO Liberty Union High School District:
- You must complete YOUR DISTRICT'S INTER-district transfer request form.
Please note that INTER-district applications are requests for admittance into Liberty Union High School District. There is no guarantee of approval to your requested school.
Most districts will forward your request to us for processing although some might have you bring the form to our office. After the resident district has processed the request, it should be submitted to the secretary at the Student Services building at 20 Oak Street, Brentwood or via email to transfers@luhsd.net.
- For NEW incoming students (9th graders or others) we request a copy of the student’s grades and disciplinary and attendance records from the past four school years. This documentation should accompany the INTERdistrict request.
- Transfer OUT of Liberty Union High School District:
- You must complete the Liberty Union High School District INTERdistrict request form and submit to the secretary at the Student Services building at 20 Oak Street or via email to transfers@luhsd.net. The form is below:

TIMELINES:
- Current school year (2024-25)
If an INTERdistrict transfer is submitted for the current school year, the parents/guardians will be notified, via writing, of the decision no later than 30 calendar days after the request is received. - Future school year (2025-26)
We will accept INTERdistrict transfer requests for the upcoming school year beginning January 2025.
If an INTERdistrict transfer is being submitted for the upcoming school year, prior to July 9, 2025, the parents/guardians will be notified of the final decision, via writing, no later than August 9, 2025.
APPEAL PROCESS:

All INTERdistrict transfer requests (INTO district and OUT of district) will go through the following process:
- review by Assistant Superintendent
- review by Superintendent
- approval of Superintendent's recommendation by School Board
General timeline:
- Current school year - Final decision within 30 calendar days from the date the request was received
- Future school year - Final decision as soon as possible but no later than 14 calendar days after the commencement of instruction in the school year for which the INTERdistrict transfer is sought
