Trustee Area 1 

Yolanda Peña-Mendrek served on the LUHSD Board from 2006-2010 and was re-elected in November 2012. She retired from the District after serving as Assistant Principal to both Liberty and Heritage High Schools. Mrs. Peña-Mendrek earned her Master's Degree in Education with an emphasis on Curriculum and Instruction and brings to the Board her teaching experience in English as a Second Language (ESL), Business Education, and Spanish.  Current term ends 11/2028
 
Dr. Hawley

Dr. Tamela H. Hawley was elected to the LUHSD Board of Trustees in 2020. She is a Brentwood resident and is a Vice President at the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) where she has served since October 2016. She joined WSCUC from the San Jose Evergreen Community College District where she served as Vice Chancellor for Institutional Effectiveness and Student Success. Tamela has been involved in quality improvement for over 15 years, serving as an examiner for the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program and as a judge and trainer for the California Council for Excellence. She also supports youth sports by serving as a superior judge for the United States Gymnastics Association. Her areas of interest include measuring institutional effectiveness in higher education and increasing access and achievement for diverse student populations. She and her husband are the proud parents of twins who graduated from Liberty High School in 2020. Tamela holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a Master’s degree in Higher Education & Work and a Ph.D. in Higher Education & Social Change from UCLA. Current term ends 11/2028

 

Allred

Pauline Allred was elected to the LUHSD Board of Trustees in 2014. Mrs. Allred is a Brentwood resident and a Special Needs Educator in the Brentwood Unified School District.  She has volunteered many hours in the community including, area schools as well as other organizations. Mrs. Allred is also an active committee member with Boy Scout Troop 93 as well as a parent volunteer for the Heritage High School Parents Organization and Vice President for the Adams Middle School Band Booster.  Her unique insights will benefit the community and working with staff, parents, and students.  Current term ends 11/2026
 
 
Susan Wallace

Susan Wallace was elected to the LUHSD Board of Trustees in 2022. Mrs. Wallace has been a Brentwood resident since 2002 and served on the Brentwood Planning Commission from 2012-2013. She and her husband are the proud parents of three children who have attended elementary, middle and high school in Brentwood. Mrs. Wallace has been involved with Brentwood schools since 2005, having volunteered as a classroom assistant, fundraiser and gardener for Brentwood Elementary School, as an Odyssey of the Mind judge and coach reaching the World Competition three times, and as a volunteer for three years for Grad Night at Heritage High School. Her areas of interest are providing creative opportunities for student growth and support for academic excellence. Mrs. Wallace has a background in management consulting and telecommunications and worked for Siemens AG in Munich and Coopers & Lybrand in Zurich. She has a BA in economics and an MA in sociology from Stanford University, as well as an MBA from INSEAD in Paris. Current term ends 11/2026

Tamara Weber  was appointed to the Liberty Union High School District Board of Trustees on October 25, 2023. Tamara Weber is a long-time resident of Discovery Bay and an active member of the LUHSD community since 2008. A dedicated parent and education advocate, Tamara has served as a PTA member, School Site Council member, Treasurer of the Heritage High School Parent Organization, and member of the Black Parents Organization and Career Technical Education (CTE) Committee. She also co-taught the “Girls Who Code” program for underserved students and has volunteered with Liberty Boosters, American Legion Post 202, CYO, Byron Delta Lions, Jr. Giants Baseball, Girl Scouts, and the VFW Post 10789 of Brentwood.

A former healthcare executive, Tamara has extensive leadership experience directing multi-site operations, improving safety outcomes, and leading diverse, unionized teams across California. She is passionate about improved educational outcomes, student belonging, and curriculum development that supports the academic and personal growth of all students. Tamara studied Political Theory at UCLA. 

Tamara and her late husband raised five children who have attended Liberty and Heritage High Schools, deepening her commitment to serving LUHSD families and the community. Her current term ends in November 2026.
